Well...did it fit...?

Thanks to Richard Wattam of "RAM Auto Design" (all will be revealed on that new name soon! B) ) it does fit!

Took a bit of machining to get it in, but of course, not a problem for "the God of gearing"...

On it's way back to me real soon...

Well, some more time has passed, but today I stripped my front axle - steep learning curve when your used to working on Vitaras! - but, at the end of the day... the LSD almost fitted!

It's never easy is it!

So, after a text conversation with Rockwatt (thanks for answering on a Sunday evening Richard! B) ) I decided to make it fit...

I noted what was catching where -

And then... yes, you guessed it... Mr. Angry (the angle grinder for those not familiar with my blogs) was called in...

Diff fits! ;)

If it don't fit... make it fit! Thanks to some professional machining in the diff by Richard "Rockwatt" Wattam (the God of Gearing), and some hillbilly angle grinding by yours truly, the LSD is now in, pending a rebuild with the new 26 spline shafts and heavy duty (hooge) CVs, from Rob Storr at RS_Mfg ! The one good thing about being self-employed, is that you can sneak off when you want to... so I gave myself 11-3 off today...

Heading for the shower, but here's a few preview photos... more in my blog later

Fitted the diff after cleaning the axle casing thoroughly (with a magnet and then oily rags)

Popped the shafts in and span the diff's input flange to make sure everything sound well...

Popped the CV on...

Test-fitted the spacer...

Then when I was happy with it, fitted it with mastic between all the faces...

Then, re-assembled... one side for now, will have to give myself some more time off tomorrow then - now I know what I'm doing! ;)

Brakes back on, steering bar and tie-bar with all new rod ends...

be interested to see if you get any leaks round the spacer as that was the problem Russ was having with his HD cvs
