Looks good Dave :)

One thing worries me a bit.

It doesn't look like there's anything to hold the halfshaft and CV joint in place. It looks like these parts just float around inside the axle and knuckle. Also, what hold the outer axle stub in place, in the CV joint?

be interested to see if you get any leaks round the spacer as that was the problem Russ was having with his HD cvs

Hmmm :S wasn't aware of that... I dry fitted it first, then cleaned all the old mastic off, then assembled with new mastic and it looks like a perfect fit... Time will tell?!

Ummm, I'm a bit green on Jimnys as yet, but to me it looked just the same as what came out only bigger?

The HD shafts 'locate' nicely into the diff - I had to tug to get them back out after test fitting - and the outer stub axle is slid into the CV and the other end is secured by the standard 'square' washer and circlip in the hub... so there's no where for it to go? It's that good a fit that I had to waggle the outer axle stub a bit to get the square washer and circlip on... although there's obviously 4 splined joints there's no movement possible, as there's nowhere for it to go...?

No?

Perhaps just me worrying for no apparant reason :)

I'm just comparing it to the standard shaft and joint which is held together with a circlip inside the joint and the axle stub being a solid part of the joint itself. The design differs a bit from the RS HD shaft and joint where any freeplay in the splines will allow some sideways movement of the CV joint.

It is the Rob Storr kit?

I haven't tried pulling the stub shaft out of the CV, but they are advertised as being replaceable... I'll have a look at the other one before fitting it...

Although I still think there's nowhere it can physically move? not even a few milimetres...

I think Rob Storr knows whT he's doing ;)

Hi, i see that you have mentions about trying to secured the standard 'square' washer and circlip in the hub, of which i had the same problem so i had to leave it out just the clip only had room on the shaft end. have you any photos to confirm your fit cheers nick- See more at: www.bigjimny.com/index.php/forum?view=to...sthash.eWPAsKKQ.dpuf

Hi Nick ;)

Yes, these photos are just a summary for BigJimny, there's loads more for my usual picture-heavy blog that will be up later tonight and I'll post the photo here for you...

The stub shaft has a small hole running through the end of the splined bit that fits into the free wheel hub, so I slid a screwdriver through there and gave it a waggle to get it fully through the hub, before securing with the square washer and circlip...

I expected the hole in the centre of the stubb shaft to be threaded for this - pulling it through the hub - but the little holes worked just as well... :)
