Obarno wrote: Hi Renard - (sorry Simon to sort of hijack your thread) I thought you might like to see the photos of my internal cage. It came from KAP Suzuki, but is fabricated by Protection and Performance. However as KAP designed it they, P&P, won't sell direct. It bolts through the floor in 6 places, but is not conected to the chassis.

A French friend who lives near Troyes has recently bought a KAP cage modified for a left hand drive car. I don't know if he has fitted it yet but if not it wll be very soon. I will pm you his details Renard and maybe he can send you some more photos as he installs it. I can't send you any more of mine as the car is in France, and I am in the UK!

Hi Obarno
How much does a cage like this cost?

I like the back of the KAP cage, but the front doesn't look great at all :(

Hi Bigmat - well I suppose it is a compromise that suits me ok. It depends really on what you want to use the car for. This car gets used for randonnees in France which can involve some quite tricky rocky climbs but hopefully the risk of rolling it are relatively small. So I would rather have a cage than no cage, but equally I really don't want to cut the dashboard about to mount the front legs through it. There is not enough room to put the leg between the edge of the dashboard and the door so that's not an option really unless you again want to cut up the dashboard. This cage doesn't mount to the chassis so is not MSA compliant, but that really doesn't bother me.
You can get in and out of the car without problem and surprisingly it doesn't get in the way when you drive. It misses the door mounted switches and the only thing I had to cut down was the glove box lid.

That's a pretty steep price compared to the cage from OMP, which costs around 600 euro, and has a better fit in the front.

I'll just go for the OMP one :)

But thanks :)
