Well, I decided to find the time and make my own! Thanks for the input though chaps!
Not the best photos - they were snapped on my phone as it was starting to get dark.
It's not quite finished yet as there are still a few cross braces and the wing bars to add but I just ran out of time (and black paint).
I tried to keep it as close to the body as possible on the sides (it touches) but leave enough of a gap at the top to mount X-Lites front & rear. It could have been a bit closer to the top though, particularly at the corners. It sticks out rearwards of the corner lights a little more than I wanted - but it should protect the light housings OK.
I should add that the external cage is just to protect the body work (a bit). It has a full MSA Complaint internal cage as well to protect me!

The external cage so far has taken about 8 hours - the rest of it has taken a fair bit more over the last year. Making the cage was interspersed with lots of cups of tea though!

Oh yes, you have to stand back and look at what engineering solution to apply with a cup of tea to lubricate the brains cogs! I'd expect nothing less than this due consideration from you Simon!
It's looking good and can't wait to see the finished article, perhaps in the metal one day, even competing!
