I washed that yesterday the tiny little sponge one
?. The pipe s had a metal connector in between them I cut the end of each tube to get it out. Hollow plastic tube in now which is tight. Is the large blue plastic thing a filter too. Btw thanks so much for everyone's help you have all been amazing.

Just a big thanks to all that have helped me. I'm still struggling but at least appear to have found the fault. All I can presume is there is either another split pipe somewhere or a blockage. My plastic t piece to join both tubes seems good but I'm still stuck in 4wd. Is there any way I could drive to the garage even slowly and without turning too tight. Also if I use a syringe on the separated tube would that unlock the hubs. I'm a nurse so have access to some good syringes. Despite my fears last night I do live the jimny, I've done lots on it but this has stumped me. If a garage has a vacuum tester would that help?. Thanks again you are all awesome!

Its a bit confusing reading your problems. Vacuum issues usually mean it will not go into 4wd. For it to be stuck in 4wd usually points to the transfer box on a vvt Jimny.
However if it is the hubs locked on then simply unbolt them and remove them. You can then drive to the garage
