Is this the vvt with the electrically switched transfer box. If the hubs are locking in and out it sounds like the actuator is stuck in the gearbox.

Sorry to hear you have a fault on the 4x4 system, but it does sound like its time for you to say goodbye to the Jimny. They are by modern standards a very simple vehicle to work on, it was the main reason I moved away from a 2012 VW Polo TDI in favour of the Jimny. I was happy to see the VW go (very unreliable and expensive to fix), so I understand you have similar feelings about the Jimny.
But back to the fault...
As it worked before it went into the garage for the clutch cable its likely they have disturbed something, but with all vehicle faults not guaranteed. So you could ask them to get it on the ramp and check their work. If it is truly stuck in 4WD (hubs locked) you could remove the front prop shaft and drive it normally, or simply ask the garage you paid to do the work to help (trailer?).
What ever happens hope you find solice in the replacement vehicle whatever you choose.
I can say as a Land Rover owner you dont want one of these if you think the Jimny is unreliable with a unnecessary 4x4 system. By comparison the Jimny is almost "normal", a comfortable little car !

Good that you're going to try and hang on to it - there's lots of really willing help here, and I'm sure you will get to the bottom of this problem and have it resolved in no time.
Good luck matey.
IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

Yes you can drive it without front prop.
I would get them to check the wiring and connector to the transfer box actuator
