It's frustrating as I'm not far from you but stuck at work - had this been during my 'off' shift I could have come along and helped out - I've got a small selection of metric tools that would have covered the job.

Let me tell you I could not do the job of a nurse - I can imagine the "shoe on the other foot" and you trying to help me through some horrendous medical procedure I'd be really stuck; out of my depth and in need of a change of underwear!
I take my hat off to you for having the tenacity to try and sort it out on your own. [smiley thumbs up needed here]

IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

Yes I just do surgical nursing now but was a specialist in Intensive care for 15 years and a transplant coordinator speaking to families of deceased and getting organs. It made me Ill with stress eventually. I love mechanics. This us just so frustrating. I will drive to garage tomorrow in my nice honda civic . I will ask if i can borriw his hex keys and then get it down there. I really thought once joining tubes up it would fix it but no!!

This is the confusing thing. The vacuum is used to pull the hubs in to lock them. If you have a split hose in the vacuum system the hubs would not lock as it would suck the air from atmosphere via the break/split hose. So in theory they should not be locked. Just as a side note, It does have vacuum hubs and not manual??

It's been fettled just a tad.
