oily leak from front nearside - advice requested was created by Paul4A
Hi, I spotted a strange brown stain on our drive a few days ago but the Jimny wasn't there at the time and I didn't think it through. Tonight I noticed a brown oily sludge running down the inside of the front nearside tyre as shown on the attached photographs. It looks to be coming from the front swivel or whatever it's called. Can people kindly advise what the cause will be (swivel seal failure?) and especially the solution.
Sorry about the photograph quality, taken on my phone.
Many thanks
Paul

Thanks, I've also watched that video. Shame Martin doesn't live up this way as I'd get him to do ours as well.
Its strange but I had started to notice a bit of steering wobble occasionally but not too severe. I guess that's what it was.
Looks like I'd need that bearing kit, the waterproof grease, and the Loctite 5920 Premium silicone copper gasket. Am I missing anything else? Is there any deciding factor at this stage which would require me to need the seal kit as well (@ £48 for the bearing and seal kit per side). It's 17 years old so is a bit scruffier than that shown in the video.
