tuppiesfriend, thanks for the concern. The bolts that did have heads left came off quite easily so I will give the Irwin bolt removers a try. I have tried tapping the bolts with a driver and a copper mallet but to be honest it was a bit of a faff with limited room for manoeuvre. On an associated matter can anyone recommend a good fixings company as I am obviously going to need some new bolts to replace the damaged ones?

Hello again,
I think some of the bolt holes are blind, whilst others go right through, so exercise caution, the ones that go right through
get water in the open end, so these are the ones that will rust in!
Don't know of a fastenings supplier, internet search I guess. Try and get stainless, I used to have similatrproblems with the exhaust manifold on our Talbot camper (Tuppy) replaced all the nuts with stainless, now I'm confident that if it ever need to come apart again it will.
Just done the other side on my 2008 Jimny today, 4 Hr's! Then it all went wrong, took him for a trial run, all was fine, but as I got near home I could hear this ticking from the back, checked it out, nail in tyre, it had to come out of course, tyre went down.
Put on spare, went to get electric pump, dropped pump, pump no longer works!!!!!
Tuppies friend.

I love stainless....but one word of caution. ...don't put them in with copperslip.....
you may as well weld them in  Dissimilar metal corrosion bonds them together forever....use a lithium based grease

Thanks for the info'. Didn't realise that about Copperslip and stainless steel. Better get out and wipe off the copperslip I used on some of the bolts I used to assemble my clutch slave on my bike the other day.

That's exactly where I first discovered the problem. ..on the bikes
Then when I went offshore I found the stuff was banned altogether .....stainless into aluminium + copperslip is the worst mix :woohoo:

Well, the Irwin Nut & Bolt removers arrived toady. 2 minutes later the three problem bolts removed. Top King Pin came out easily. However, the lower one was a right pain. Lots of 'manipulation' required but at last it is out.
Bottom bearing was virtually non existent. Just watching lots of liquid running out after removing the shaft. Very disconcerting watching all that goo running out. Will leave it overnight to let it drip out.
I am going to do the tie rod ends on the nearside. Bit confused about the description of which side is which.
I need the nearside ones but the descriptions mention left for the nearside (passenger side) and right for the offside (drivers side) whats that all about. Nearside is left and Offside is right, surely.
