Right guys, after having a ponder underneath Iv started the car and the buttons ARE selecting 4wd as it should and the light no longer flashes - and 4L can be selected. So that seems to be working.
However on a test drive Iv noticed at 30-40 miles an hour there a humming type noise when I lift off the acceleration - and now noticed on a field that when I select 4wd, it still makes the grinding sound and doesn't move - 4wd light no longer flashing tho!

Where abouts in West Yorkshire? I'm not a working mechanic but if you want a second set of eyes and ears and can wait until the weekend?
