You need two different greases and some sealant.

Nothing special about the CV grease just the typical lithium soap grease with added moly that are usually called CV grease or MolyDisulphate grease. Do not put too much in, just make sure the joint is well packed that does not mean grease everywhere and big dobs lying about, just work into the joint but still be able to see the outline of the joint.

This will do

Now to lubricate the king pin bearings use this stuff.

www.bigjimny.com/store/waterproof-grease.html

If you do not have any get this sealant to stop water getting in between the mating surfaces of the kingpin caps.

As they say have a nice but dirty day.

Been there and do check the front wheel bearing as they tend to go at the same time. I have done both front wheel bearings but only the offside CV joint as that side was where the most damage was caused by calipers seizing.

Thank you for the advices on the greases. As I live in another country and do not have the same assortment of greases readily available, this is what I managed to find in a short amount of time, as presumably good choices:

CV was greased with Abro LG-990:
www.abro.com/lg-990.html
www.abro.ru/products/smazki-tekhnicheski...-litevaya-sintetic3/

Kingpins were greased with Divinol 23980:
www.zeller-gmelin.de/view/product/23980?...F8FA1ABDDC8222E7C74B

That Abro grease is synthetic, and I read on several places that synthetic greases are the weapon of choice against water ingress.
That Divinol grease looks like it was made in Chernobyl, it is has stark light green color and is very sticky and slimy. It is super hard to wipe off or rinse off. My mechanic says that petrol easily rinses off various greases (he uses petrol for rinsing them), but this grease was almost impervious to petrol rinsing!

I replaced my left CV during the rebuilt process.

My car was built in 2006, so the original CV had 26 external splines and 29 internal splines (CVs in older Jimnys have 26 external splines but only 19 internal splines). My CV had 8 balls.

I replaced it with Herth+Buss Jakoparts J2828040 CV, which has the same number of internal and external splines as my original CV joint (the only such aftermarket CV which I was able to find, after exhaustive search), but it has 6 balls instead of 8 balls (although those 6 balls are larger to compensate for 2 less).
I did not do significant offroading since installing this CV joint, so I can't comment on its service yet.

The original CV has the following markings:

A I NTN EBJ82 N V 5 H

This means that NTN ( www.ntnglobal.com/en/index.html ) manufactured this original CV joint, and the model of the joint is EBJ82.

Since Suzuki asks a horrendeous price for the replacement original CV joint (they sell it only together with the halfshaft), it would definitely pay off if someone could find where else we could buy this NTN EBJ82 CV joint.

That's the first link which I found on Google when I searched for that NTN EBJ82 CV.

I see two CVs on that shaft. The left CV on the picture looks completely different, so maybe the right CV on the picture is ours. But even the right CV appears too big (the cup is too long).

Is there a volunteer to buy that Ebay item and test the CV for the sake of the community?
:D

EDIT:
That Ebay ad says that "28 SPLINE OUTER CV, 26 SPLINE INNER CV".
Since there are two CVs on one shaft, the seller probably refers to the left (clearly incompatible) CV when he mentions 28 splines, and probably to the right (potentially ours) CV when he mentions 26 splines. And that number (26) matches!

Well, in the interests of science I pickup up one of those shafts.

The CV join (ON THE LEFT in the picture) of the picture does indeed state NTN EBJ82 , however as you state it is clearly in a different style housing if your original does state EBJ 82 as well.

Interestingly the one in the picture matches the one in the NTN catalogue www.ntnamericas.com/en/website/documents...20auto%205601-je.pdf

I guess that the car manufacturers can request different shaft finishing for the same joint :(
