Say 1,500 miles and sweet as a nut. In my opinion as the wheel bearing was goosed it was casued by at least two sized calipers overheating the area and melting the grease is bearing greasw flows at about 200C.

Just down the bearing on the passenger side. The bearing was noisey but not that rough and it still has had some grease on it. The CV joint had no grease left but still in good condtion so coated with Moly grease. That side also had a caliper rebuilt then a new one a year later.

Yes I would buy those CV joints again.

Where did you buy that Jakoparts J2828040 CV joint? How much did you pay for it?

I found it very cheap on Mister-Auto web shop ( www.mister-auto.co.uk ) (they have other national sites across Europe as well).
The price of this CV joint on Mister-Auto is approximately only 50% of the price on other car parts web stores. However, I read a lot of bad forum opinions about Mister Auto car parts web store.

EDIT:
It appears that the bad forum opinions about Mister Auto is mainly related to unpredictable delivery times and delays (at least on UK forums) and bad support over email and phone. But that is not an issue for someone who is not in a hurry for parts.

It appears that Mister Auto currently does not have a distribution warehouse in UK (not even a support call center), so they send the ordered parts from abroad in EU, and that causes entropy in delivery times.

Thank you for a quick confirmation.

I am puzzled by one thing - the lack of aftermarket CVs for the 8 ball, 29 int spline CV model.

Evidently, there are two types of CV joints for Jimnys.

The first type has 6 balls, 26 external splines and 19 internal splines.
The second type has 8 balls, 26 external splines and 29 internal splines.

My investigation in Suzuki's original parts database shows that the first CV type was used in older Jimny models (until approx year 2006), and that the newer CV type is used in newer Jimny models (from approx 2006).

The two types are not interchangeable because of different number of internal splines.

Since Suzuki sells CVs only together with halfshafts, and halfshafts are of different length, they sell right and left sides as different products.

The first type CV has part numbers 44102-81A00 (LH) and 44101-81A00 (RH).
The second type CV has part numbers 44102-84A00 (LH) and 44101-84A00 (RH).

All for of these part numbers are super duper uber expensive (four digits in EUR currency).

My thorough Internet investigation shows that there are several aftermarket manufacturers of the first type of CVs with "normal" prices (two digits in EUR currency) (without the halfshafts, so they are interchangeable left and right).
But on the other hand, I have not been able to find a single aftermarket manufacturer of the second type CV.

The only exception, if it counts as an exception, is the Jakoparts J2828040 CV, which the forum user auchenblae has bought and successfully installed.
But that CV, although it has correct number of internal and external splines as the second type Suzuki CV, still has 6 balls instead of 8 in the newer type.

What puzzles me here is that I have not been able to find anyone on this forum (except user auchenblae) searching for or complaining about a replacement 2nd type CV for his newer Jimny revision.
I think it's highly unlikely that no one of all of you here has never had the need to replace a CV on a newer Jimny?
Or you all drive very old Jimnys?

I'm afraid your research has not been that thorough.

The main reason for CV joints are going at 60k miles on my cars is not normal wear and tear during road use but cars that have had two calipers that have seized on the same side and the discs therefore running at 200C for a long time and not just during heavy breaking, normal running temps being 50C to 90C.

In my own location there appear to be iron salts coming out farmers fields which casue the calipers to seize on our Jimny, four calipers on one car , MX5's, three calipers on two cars and Impreza's around 7 calipers over three cars since 2001.

Our ouriginal 1999 Jimny and VW's in the 90's never had a problem with seized calipers and at 100k miles were all on the original CV joints and front wheel bearings.

Both multipurpose grease and CV grease disapear at those temperatures.

I finally have to replace my front left CV and I bought the same Jakoparts J2828040 aftermarket CV joint as Auchenblae did.

My Jimny originally had an 8-ball CV joint, and the replacement one does fit despite having 6 balls (but the balls are larger). The splines are compatible. I could not find any other compatible replacement CV joint apart from Jakoparts J2828040.

We could not remove the original CV joint from the halfshaft using the hammer, so we used grinder to chop it apart (very tedious and precise work required).

The job is still ongoing. I am in the process of searching for a good waterproof grease which is meant for CV joints.

What kind of grease should I be looking at? Is a synthetic lithium grease a good choice? Or a sodium grease?

I found one of each kind, but with scarce technical info:
