8 Ball CV Joint was created by auchenblae
Sorry guys I read the thread which is about a year old but I left confused or not wanting to believe it!

My 2007 Jimny has an 8 ball CV.

The Meyle 33-144980015 I bought two off, just in case, has 6 balls and a different number of splines at the drive shaft internal end where it meets the halfshaft from the diff.

Can someone please confim that the 8 ball CV is a Suzuku dealer part only.

I appear to be in the same situation as you. My Jimny was made in 2006 and will probably need a new CV joint.

I believe that the original Suzuki P.N. for an entire CV joint + halfshaft combo is 44102-84A00. However, Suzuki's part catalogue differentiates between "LH" and "RH" side. I am quite confused why!

The "RH" side is part number 44101-84A00, while "LH" side is part number 44102-84A00.
I don't know the difference betwheen LH and RH editions.

Suzuki does not sell a CV joint separately. You have to buy it already merged with a new halfshaft. The entire thing weights ~15 kg.

Anyway, you are saying that Meyle 33-144980015 CV did not fit your Jimny because it had 19 internal splines, and the original had 29 splines?
But on the other hand, the Herth+Buss Jakoparts J2828040 CV had the correct number of splines? But it had 6 balls instead of 8, and it was still compatible?

I suppose that it will be less robust and shorter lasting because of lower number or balls, shouldn't it?

How hard was it to separate the old CV joint from the halfshaft and then to install a new CV joint into the old halfshaft?

The part numbers are different because the parts are different. As they only come complete with the driveshafts they will obviously be different lengths, think about it !!
