I recently fitted a towbar to my jimmy. I'm not fully understanding what you're having trouble with. Is it the offside bracket near the exhaust tip? I'll grab a pic of mine if that helps. My bar had 5 fixing points, came as a one piece crossbar with the mounting plates and I fitted it just on car ramps too. Mine is an 08. Ask away and I'll see if I can shed any light on your problem. :)

It's been some years but if I remember correctly I just loosened it off the hangers. I didn't actually remove it as this allows you to move it quite a way to the side.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

Yes thats the problem, cant get the off side end in past the exhaust. Tried removing bumper to see if I could get a better angle but bolts have sheared off! One of those jobs you wish you had paid someone to do!!

I had the same problem, but used a little bit of brute force to get it past the exhaust. Try removing one of the exhaust hangers. Once over the exhaust the rest is a doddle.

Tried everything, given up! Must be getting too old, dont have the strength anymore. Sending it back as not as described, cant get the long bolts on sticks up the frame without taking the bumper off, so why sell it as such! Will do what I should have done in the first place and paid someone else!

Well just get a towbar fitter in or get someone to help.
Why send it back as you obviously wanted a towbar for a reason??
You're probably feeling a bit cheesed off at the moment just sleep on it first.
I think I bent the tabs a little so that they could "curve" in then flattened it out as it went in.
I didn't remove the bumper or exhaust.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)
