Did the ring go on the new cam in the same place as the old one with regard to the location of the cam lobes?
Also try a different cam sensor

tried another cam sensor (had a spare from the G16B which i know is good as i tried it on the jimny prior to swapping engines).
i'm 'fairly' sure the ring is on in the correct position, i had a mechanic fit it & he used a bolt through #1 cylinder spark plug to find true top dead centre on both engines & marked it out. only thing he may have done is possibly gotten it 180° out, but i really doubt it.

The engine rotates twice to the cam shafts once so as you say it could be 180 out. I suppose it depends on whether the cam and crank timing marks were used also

here's how the cam sensor ring looked after marked up & fitted to the engine, not that it really tells you a great deal:
also, here's a wire at the back of the head i can find no place to connect, i'm positive it wasn't connected when we removed the engine, the cam sensor to the side of it was connected directly to the firewall with another lead which may have been added aftermarket:
just for the sake of it, here's how the motor sits right now, looks mint & very happy with the install, but refuses to start lol:

Hi
Have you removed a spark plug and cranked engine over to see if you`ve got any spark at the plugs
