It is up to you whether you change the swivel seal or not.

Most people do not and simply clean up the old one with an oily rag.

The Swivel Seal does assist with the damping of the steering so if you do have wobble it can help to change it.

Hi and welcome, I've also got a 2007 model

just had my kingpins changed along with track rod ends (there are 4 of them and Bigjimny also sell them) cost me £80 for 2 hours labour at "good" back street garage.

was going to do them myself but would have cost me £40 in tools and A&E visit and divorce lawyer .... so didn't bother and I'm too old to lie on my back in the cold and wet

good luck
;)

King pins was the first job I did on mine. Just buy a full kit with ball seal and axle seal. You might as well do the lot on both sides in one go. It's not difficult if you've got some tools and the time. Torque the bolts down to spec.

Check track rod ends for play while you are down there (oo err missus!).

It's all part of the fun of the big jimbo!

perhaps that should read 'drive shaft or half shaft seal'??

Hope it's not your cv joint as that would poss cost a bit.

When doing kingpins, I have read that waterproof grease is good as water can get in and sit on the lower one, unfortunately that was after I did mine :(
