The rear shock re locators stop the bottom shock bush from wearing out in 5 minutes, when you lift the car it increases the angle of the rear shock bolt.

Wears out in 5 minutes? Who told you that?

These relocators are a waste of money if you ask me, and with them installed these a bigger risk of you shocks bottoming out, with damage to follow.

So no, you do not need shocks relocators.

I was wondering about the bottoming out. If you hit the damper before the chassis endstop I think you will cause some proper damage.

Yeah I'm not sure why they are so recommended. Pretty much every kit here the guys just put the shocks straight on :-/

Yeah, at best they're just a waste of money.
Just remember no matter what suspension lift you put on, to check if your bumpstops are long enough. Fit the shocks w/o spring and check with full compression.

we have sold over 3000 ES1000 shocks so cant be that bad

Tom, I've been driving modded jimnys for 10 years, I've had 6 in that time, I drew the original design for shock relocators on a fag packet 9 years ago to alleviate the problem of rear shock lower bushes destroying themselves in no time on lifted jimnys where the rear axle has rotated due to the lift. Shocks bottom out when you fit shocks of the wrong length, if you fit rear shock brackets take that into account when purchasing your shocks.

I'd go with Jimnybits lift kit, I've a 3" lift kit with Pro comp ES3000 on my very heavy jimny and the ride is excellent. With a less heavy jimny i'd have got the ES1000

I have the Jimny Bits 2" springs and they are a fairly good ride with good flex I got the springs used and fitted Rough Country shocks from the BigJimny shop. Having measured up all the clearances at the rear I can say that the shock length supplied by JB (he emailed me the details) is spot on without the extensions and the bump stops will be hit before the springs fully compress without the shocks bottoming out. I haven't measured up the front yet, I'm running extensions and saving up for new shocks.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
