Jimny bits 2" lift was created by reflexsa
Hey all,

I'm considering ordering myself the Jimnybits 2" lift.
Firstly, I can't decide between the ES1000s and the AVO premium dampers.
I see there are mixed feelings with regards to the ES1000s and not much info on the AVO dampers.

I will have to import them here to South Africa, even with shipping and duties the kit works out cheaper than most of the kits available here.
I will be ordering castor correction bushes (rubber or poly?) and extended brake lines.

Reading the fitting guide here on the forum I see the shock relocator is recommended, why is this?
The guys here only really use them to extend the standards shocks.

Lastly, the only other kit I have been considering is the EFS 50mm kit. It works out a bit more expensive, however I know it is good quality. Everyone that has fitted it that I know has gotten a fair amount more than 50mm lift, more like 70mm.
Will the Jimnybits provide 50mm when settled or more?

Just looking for some advice and experience with the product.
Thanks in advance

Why not get something sold in SA, Like EFS, Tough Dog or ARB? You usually get what you pay for. The kits sold by BJ are with shocks made for US trucks.
What's the intended use of the Jimny? And also, what sort of money do you want to spend?

I know there's a Amada Extreme dealer in SA. They make really good shocks for not a lot of money. Also with external reservoir.

Also, I'd get my springs from a brand/reseller that can give detailed info on the springs, like rate, dimensions and such. I wasn't aware of this when I got my ORA springs last year. But have now found out that they're actually softer than the standard Jimny springs, but much longer.

ARB, King springs and TrailMaster have all been able to provide with details on their springs. Tough Dog, ORA and Jimny Bit could not give that information.

Most people on this forum seems not to care much about these details. But I've learnt to like to know what it is I'm spending my money on ;-)

Mostly road driving with a trail on most weekends. Money, well EFS is basically the upper limit and JB is the bottom.

I have been speaking with Amada, they seem reasonable but stopped answering my questions suddenly.
I currently just have a 40mm spacer lift so I was looking to gain slightly with the extra 10mm and better articulation.

I do agree that often you get what you pay for, but occasionally some things are as good as they sound :)

No matter what I'd get at kit with springs and shocks made for the Jimny. Like EFS, TrailMaster, ARB, Amada Extreme and such. That way you know there's been put a bit of thought into getting the correct valving and dimensions on the shocks.
The ARB shocks may be too soft if you have a heavy winch and bumper installed, but ARB have springs in different rates.

I've had Jimnybits 3" springs on a couple of cars now and always been pleased with them, ProComp shocks I've had no bother with for the last 10 years of jimny ownership, I've had ES1000's, 3000's, and also 9000's, depends on your car useage, sounds like you'll want 1000's. The rear shock re locators stop the bottom shock bush from wearing out in 5 minutes, when you lift the car it increases the angle of the rear shock bolt.

Wears out in 5 minutes? Who told you that?

These relocators are a waste of money if you ask me, and with them installed these a bigger risk of you shocks bottoming out, with damage to follow.

So no, you do not need shocks relocators.
