Wrench the kickplates up, and all the little clips snap off.
Drill the holes for your lance.
Paint the edges of the holes.
When dry do the waxoyling.
Replace the kickplates, which are now loose, and keep coming off.
I suppose a big blob of blutack under each one would hold them.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

It's interesting that I have no clips holding my kickplates and no holes. My Vitaras did have.
The kickplates are held on with the same goo that is used to seal door card plastics (a glorified black blutak I guess! ). I was hoping to be able to use the holes for the probe but as there aren't any I guess I'll have to drill a couple. Where did you position your holes please!

Passenger side kickplate was loose on mine and ended up in the road every time passenger gets out

Double side sticky pads as per for fixing number plates does the job though

I drilled bigger holes to get my Machine Mart lance through. Made a pigs ear of it as I didn't use a sheet metal drill, or a holesaw, so the panel twists and crumples. However, you can't see the holes with the kickplates on.

Thanks, gives me an idea where to drill.
