No luck. There seems to be what almost feels like two metal bars running vertically up, three inches apart just behind the slot so the disc can't be removed. The wife said the disc was playing then just stopped half way through.
On a plus note I was chatting with a friend who told me to try a company based in Liverpool. They have an Internet shop and much to my delight I found this!

Don't know if this is a game changer for the whole Jimny head unit debate on here? Certainly cheered me up, so I am going to order one on Saturday. They have to order it in and they take about a week to dispatch. Apparently the unit does everything. Happy days

The standard units used to be substantially lower in cost and of course you could get some well known brands but at this price when you consider the extra cost of a fascia or trims it's now reasonable and will save a bit of hassle.
Let us know how you get on and a pic when fitted.

ps discs are old technology get your music on an SD card or at least an MP3 lol
I know the Clarion didn't have a connection for MP3 but I used an FM modulator and it works perfectly at the recommended frequency.

Apparently the card slot and USB are via a cable that fits in the glovebox. I'm not going to fit it as it may rattle about! All our music will be done via the bluetooth. My lads chuffed that he can watch DVD'S. I'll post pics when fitted.

I bought one of those rolls of mesh type non slip mat and went round cutting small mats to fit in all the holders/shelves to stop the rattles and things moving about.
I used small blobs of blu tack on each corner on the passenger shelf.
Most car places sell them

Hahaha no chance would I remove the rear like that  I just don't know what to do now as the unit I was going to buy doesn't do as much as I thought. Plus I think you have to route cables through the dash for a satnav aerial and microphone for the bluetooth telephone. I didn't really want to disturb anything. I too have cut out the slip mat for the cupholders etcetera. I definitely have OCD
