The only thing I laughed at was that the police hadnt picked me up for no mot despite seeing loads about including traffic cars.

I cant be without my car over christmas so cant strip it down and dont have the funds at the moment to fix it as its the festiv season.as ive said it was a job for new year befor my mot, unfortunately due to a hectic year I was mistaken as to when my mot was.genuine mistake on my behalf.

just didnt appreciate being told im dangerous and am gonna cause an accident by someone who knows nothing about me,ive never crashed or caused a crash in my whole driving career!

Hugs all round friend :)

i do understand that some people leave there cars to get in a potentialy dangerous condition (my misses is a mechanic so i hear some horror stories about people having no breakes etc etc) but that is not the case here.i was merely pointing out my stupidity for forgetting my mot on top of christmas and that id been lucky not to get pulled over, also i was hoping it would pass despite its minor faults,i mean who can do without their motor at christmas!

not everyone knows everyones personal situation therefor some tact should be taken when posting comments.i didnt appreciate being personaly attacked so to speak, im usually on it with car repairs have just let things slide abit due to other more pressing commitments.

still waiting, should be done soon then we'll find out how lienient the mot man has been

anyway lets build a bridge and get over it

While I have never been in that situation I can say in other areas like paying bills I have been just as derelict at one time or another - we all forget something sometime. I hope it gets through Alex.

I consider a bigger scourge on the roads at the moment to be driving while holding a cell phone to the ear...........does anyone want to own up to doing that.

road worthy condition mots arnt worth the paper thay are printed on mots are a wast of time

Now I love my MoT bloke to bits as he is one of the old school who are sensible about MoTs but one day I said to him how I hated the MoT he was most vociferous about, and I am paraphrasing, how it is a very good thing for maintaining at least some standard. He missed my point......I hate dentistry too but know my toothypegs need to be checked etc.

don't get me started on the disappearing tax disc .......... OK, I start .... stupid clueless tossers, trust me in a year or so it'll come back

Now this is a good one. Clearly the paper and printing saved alone (let alone the cost of chasing the thieves who nick or fake discs and log book will be enough for the DVLA to keep within budget.........yes folks, I see it purely as a financial expedient. But trust me, once scrapped, it won't return. I look at my disc to remind me when the next round of road rent is due. Now if they want to drop anything, drop that!! Put 1p or so per litre on fuel and you wouldn't need any taxation.

I'll stop now.

First you don't really need to strip it down as much as the guide says as you are not doing the wheel bearings.
Second I find a ring spanner on the various corroded little bolts it gives better control and grip, if your other half has hex ones even better rather than the 12 points.
Third I am sure you are going to replace the shaft oil seal.
Fourth, shift the track rod end nuts right off before separating the rod end.
Fifth, I think some silicone seal at hand might be useful but I forget where I used it. lol
Sixth, the 'dust'seal, which to my mind does nothing apart from keep the rats out, is generally recoverable.
Good luck, it is awful weather for that job.
