Well, after being laid up in 2011 following a major failure and being briefly restarted in 2013 when I had to get her on a flat bed to move house, today is the day to bring her back to life.
Over the last few days I have replaced the battery, air filter, oil and oil filter. The fuel in the tank is from 2011 so has been in the tank for 6 years, however there is too much of it to drain easily so its fingers crossed!
Stunning! Started as if it last ran yesterday.
However, I still have some work to to.
After running for a few minutes she threw up an engine code.
This is the O2 Sensor heater wire. I now recall my sons Jimny had an issue and we swapped over sensors to get his running so I had his sensor
- so i need a new one for the MOT.
Also the idle speed, instead of settling down after a few seconds to around 700RPM it increased to just under 2000 and sat there. Therefore I now need to look at why the idle speed is too high.
There is some bearing noise so something (Tensioner bearing, Alternator bearing etc.) is not happy
The exhaust has a lot of steam and water coming out. No loss of water from header but engine does seem warm. However she always was a steamy exhaust car without losing water and with the oil not getting emulsified.
So its onwards with the diagnosis but a major step forward today.

Probably, however the deceptive thing is that the idle speed is rock solid but high. No misfire, no hunting, its just as if it was supposed to idle at that speed. So at the moment I am going for a faulty sensor or blocked/split pipe.

I realise you have no MOT but if you were able to drive it around a bit and get some fresh fuel in It, I reckon the idling issue will sort its self out.
In respect of the steamy exhaust, if it's not too much hassle to take the back box off I think you might find that you can empty a bit of water out of it from condensation.
It's great that it's running though!
