Easier said than done when the tank has a fair bit in it and the tank bolts are all rusty and want to sheer in their captive nuts on the top of chassis cross members, where you can't get to them with a grinder and drilling them is a pain.

Then you'd have to weld new ones in place or tap the old ones, which would not be easy, given their location.

The fuel pipes are all on the top and whilst I think there is possibly a drain bolt, I personally wouldn't want to disturb that after all these years and knowing what Martin's Jimny has been through. The tank bolts likely need undoing to access it too if there is a tank guard, which I would think Martin has.

So draining the tank is a pain in short!

I will syphon out small amounts and mix into our other petrol cars to dilute and dispose. Once I get it low enough I will then add on fresh to dilute the remainder.

I feel the idle issue is vacuum related (or lack of it). There are 4 pipes on the manifold. The old vacuum hub feed, the servo feed and two evap pipes. Will have a poke around later

I still cannot believe how instantly it started

Can you syphon through through the filler though? There's often a ping pong like ball at the bottom of the filler pipe that gets pressed down by the pressure of petrol coming in to allow it past but stops a hose pipe from getting into the tank.
