I have had a 2008 and now a 2014 Jimny, checked the brochures. Both say bodywork is galvanised?

But as I recall it's not all over. Didn't Landys boast aluminum panels but the steel frames rotted just like anything.

if its the shell it will likely be all galvanised, as the component is dipped. if its only partial dip, then its likely to be the lower half, either way that is all to the good.

I'll have a word with the dealership to get the official explanation and report back.

obviously doors, and skin panels which are separate parts, are unlikely, but given that most of the jimny corrosion is underneath anyway, its less of an issue, i think.....

It would be interesting to hear how far back they started to galv them, mine's 2009 and there is signs of rust in many places it affects welding I hear, not so easy to weld galv steel or it gives of too much bad fumes, therefore, good/important to know if galv or not.

I'm heading in there this weekend to sort out payment, and to give them document for our private plate, so i'll badger them and find out.

I've heard an old welders tale that they used to down a pint of milk before working any steel with zinc or derivative of it on, apparently it stops the ill feeling, I personally have always used appropriate breathing protection, coupled with stripping the local galv off as much as possible.
