Updated cv s and shafts.
I think I read that ARB only do 22 spline lockers now, so I guess that means having the side gears from a rear diff put in it when it's built up to use the 26 spline from shafts.

kirkynut wrote: Tom you don't hear of many Jimny front diffs breaking because the cv's go first, acting like a fuse as I said above. Make the cv's and shafts un breakable and you'll find the next weakness in the line, which I suggest is the diff because it's only 2 pin.
If you upgrade to an arb it becomes 4 pin, so much stronger, just like Land Rovers. You also get a locker but you'll need a rear one to go with it so fortunes are needed.
See what I meant?

Edit: just read Jimnydms post saying that RS does a kit to convert the Jimny front diff to 4 pin, which I assume are 26 spline to match their shafts, so that will be the way to go unless you want an arb, at which point you may as well get a 22 spline arb and these new 22 spline shafts to keep it simple.
Of course you're right Kirky. Missed that in your last post.. Sorry

I don't think you can (should!) take an ARB (air-locker) to bits to change the side gears?, you could with a Lockright or similar though...?

I have spoke to rob today, very helpful guy and knowledgeable!!
He used to produce 22 spline shafts but now only manufacturers 26 spline as believes they are stronger.
Taking into consideration everyone's thoughts on the next weak link being the diff i have decided to go for a 4 pin front diff and locker conversion at the same time. Unfortunately rob is out of lockers at the min and wont have them in stock for a while, fortunately for me i have a rear jimny diff with a lockright locker fitted i bought and have not got round to installing it yet, so the plan is i am taking him that (as my sis lives in hereford, 2 birds 1 stone etc) and a front diff so he can use the locker and 26 spline side gears from the rear married up with front diff. He is building this all up for me also for £25 !!!! bargain so when i get home i will literally have cv's, shafts and a uprated diff all bolt on for just shy of £700 not bad in my opinion! quite excited
