Updated cv s and shafts. was created by jimnydms
Hi who are doing the strongest up rated cvs and shafts for std Jimny axels? Is RS manufacturing the guys to speak to or are there other people ?

Thanks

It's hard to tell really, as you'd need all uprated shafts and CVS put in a dyno and measure each to see when they break, with exact same torque applied.

But I'd probably put my money on the Zanfi Extra super heavy duty 26 splines shafts and CVs. But they are more than twice the price of Rob Storr ones.

On another note I can tell you that my local 4x4 parts supplier are working with RCV Performance in the US to make uprated shafts and CVS for the Jimny, 22 splines. I've heard talk that these shafts and CVs will come with a full 5 year warranty for up to 33" tyres. Price I'm guessing around £700. I'm waiting for a set of these :)

They will save the messing about with 26 spline front diffs and I've never heard of a front diff breaking. Having said that the cv's have acted as fuses I suppose.

Nonetheless, how do we know that 22 splines is not enough? Has one of the clever people on here done calculations that suggests 22 splines will not be enough? Rockwatt... What's your thoughts?

it does appeal having uprated 22 spline shafts etc as if i am honest i am out of my depth when it comes to fitting the 26 spline side gear if im honest i wouldn t have a clue what is involved in doing that ?

I've got RS ones in my front axle -

But I worked the other way round... I had a 26 spline LSD to fit, so needed the shafts to match the diff! :woohoo:

Kirkynut, I have blown a front diff :) the standard shafts were fine.
