I often find myself stood with my MOT tester checking through his handbook on things we don't agree on. It took me 4 years to get him to understand that emissions checks are less stringent if the car has had an engine conversion!

If you think it's going to be an issue, either take 30 mins to fit a socket (they are quite useful if you have a towbar!) or check up on the MOT guide before you go and be prepared to question it. It is all available online.

Blimey! That caused some discussion! ;)

I'll ask my mate from the garage round the corner, see how they interpret the MOT for a towbar (and the plug / lack of one...)

I'm a tester and Marks a tester I think we've both made it fairly clear it's not required for the mot :)
