Ive diasabled my air bags for when i take my little lad out playing in the mud didnt want the chance of air bag going off in his face if i dinked a tree or such like.
If you wip ot the centre consol you will see the air bag module disconnect the battery and wait for a few minutes then simply unplug it and will also stop the light working reconnect the battery and from then on it will be disabled.
As regards MOT you will be better asking MarkyP but i think if the system is not operational ie the light then they cannot test it but he will be able to tell you more

If the air bag light is on it fails bt if the air bag light domt work its a pass bt all air bags have to be present or it will fail on them missing

I have off-roaded for a few years now with the airbags still armed and active without a problem.

But you'll have to hit that tree damn hard to set the airbag off, as far as I'm aware airbags don't deploy below 20 mph
