Funny.. 40mm is the same change as the SJ to Samurai in 1988. Springs where moved out in 1988 to add stability.
Would expect that to be the case now as well, but might be just for looks.

So what that means is that even if the diffs are the same the half shafts will be longer. Do we know if the spring seats and radius brackets are in the same relative position to allow the axles to be swapped whole to offer a better solution than offset wheels or spacers?

1. Wheels (and wheels nuts)
2. Coils
3. Shocks

One of the earlier press releases talked about some re-positioning of the mounts but visually they seem pretty much the same so it could be mm rather than cm of change.

Evolution of design rather than revolution of design kinda thing. I wonder what else has been improved that could be incorporated into the 1.3? Are the front brake rotors vented by any chance?

Nope brake rotors are solid. I haven't got out the measuring tape yet, but I'm pretty sure they are exactly the same as the old model.
