I totally agree the is no such thing as a perfect set up.
Just to make things clear. Most of my offroad is done on private property, farms etc in the
High Weald area. (Kent/Sussex borders). Most of it is woodland with deep gullies/streams.
Often when descending one of the gullies that are already steep enough to make your bottom
squeak, one of the front wheels will drop into a rabbit hole pitching you almost over. :woohoo:
The new springs the front do not compress as much in this situation, so the center of gravity
dose not move forward so much, lifting the back end and ending in a roll over if you are un lucky.
Hope that makes sense as i dont have a photo as i normally have my hands full at that point.

As with many other things. When it comes to suspension, you get what you pay for. There may be who say their Pro Comp / Rough Country suspension is just excellent. But compared to what? Usually only a tired standard Jimny suspension.
To be fair. I must say I was positively surprised how well the RC shocks I had performed. The front ones were way too soft as expected. But the rear ones were axtually not that bad
But the shocks lasted less than 2 years. They front ones got very rusty and started leaking after a year. The rear ones lasted perhaps 6-8 months longer.
None of this is anything compared with the Trail Master / Bilstein setup I have now, though. Still nowhere near as expensive as a custom made Fox/King suspension. But great for my use.
When it comes to choosing suspension. You need to springs that match the weight of the vehicle. And shocks after use and weight. The faster you want to go, the firmer shocks you need.
But the best advice I can give is to get a suspension kit made for the Jimny. Like Trail Master, Old Man Emu, Dobinsons, Tough Dog and such. They all offer different springs and shocks solutions. So it should be possible to find a correct match.
One last thing. The 3 inch Trail Master I have on my Jimny are very stiff. The only reason why I have the is because of a heavy front bumper and twin motor 8274 winch. If you just need an ARB bumper and standard lowmount winch, I'd say get the 2" diesel springs from Trail Master.

People have reported that spring spacers can make the ride hard to the point of crashing over bumps. Some spacers have failed MOT tests as they do not have shaped surfaces that stop the springs rotating.
The best ride reports come from Trail master set ups

Cheers everyone dot the advice , you've given me alot to think about. I have a 2013 Jimny so don't want to ruin it. A Jimny specific kit might be the way I go I was quoted $1600NZD for Old Man Emu suspension  but as you say you get what you pay for!

You could also consider Dobinsons, Terrain Tamer, Tough Dog, Iron Man, EFS ??
Where you live there are quite a few options available
