I'd rather not go off roading than go in a 90, I'm thinking of changing for comfort reasons as much as anything so going from a jimny to a 90 to me is a backward step
I'm sure a newish 90 is comfy, though I have drove a v6 shogun on and offroad and yes there ok

I can run 33inch tyres on a shogan/pajero with out any mods so have greater ground clearance, more comfortable and roomier inside, probably better built than a Jimny.
Disadvantage's
Heavier vehicle might get bogged down in mud (extra weight means it will sink in the mud and find the grip underneath, and the lanes I do don't tend to be muddy anyway)
Heavier on fuel (I don't do many miles in the Jimny anyway)
Less articulation (some seem to have a rear diff lock which helps and I'm sure my Jimny mates could give me a little tug if I get stuck)
So I think shogan/pajero wins over Jimny for me personally
The comfort thing is always my issue with the jimny rich as you know,i even stuck mine up forsale last year cos i was sick of the ride and i still am tbh.lad i work for has a swb terrano, its had lwb springs put in the rear torsion bars adjusted 30" dakars still has its arbs front and rear and its been everywhere my jimny has been think its lsd helps loads.i still keep toying witj selling up getting something more comfy.
