Hi guys, I was goin to fit a new front wheel bearing tomoro mornin but noticed whilst reading the "how to" on here that I need a "special tool" for the hub nut. My question is do I need one of these before I start, how much n were from, or is there another way round getting the hub nut off.
Info n answers greatly appreciated.

You could get the hub nut off with a hammer & chisel but it will bugger it up and you have to tighten it back up at a ridiculously high torque setting which couldn't be achieved with a hammer & chisel.

So really you need the tool.

The bearings are pressed into the hub with big circlips stopping them from escaping. So you need circlip pliers & access to a press.

No need for at press. I put the bearing in the freezer over night and the hub in the oven at 200c for 30 minutes, and the bearing slipped right in with no use of tools or trouble at all. And when it all cooled down, the bearing was sitting perfectly and firm in place
