thanks so much EVERYBODY! but after a google i saw a one off post where somebody had disconnected the battery and once reconnected it worked... i picked up the car and thought it was unlikely but gave it a shot and TADA :woohoo: I couldnt believe it! rang up the garage, (topped up levels and removed air freshner :whistle: ) they changed a side light bulb for £6 did a partial retest for free and there you have it! back on the road only £41 down :lol: :lol:

just shows you the wonder of the internet eh guys! everybody should definitely give this a try if they have a similar problem :)

(the look on their face when i turned up 15 mins after leaving with a working speedo was priceless)

quick question is how did they know it wasnt working as a road test isnt part of the MOT

as above as long as it lights up its a pass

Most garages have to shuffle cars around drive them onto the ramps etc etc,probably noticed it then.

I thought "Speedometer incomplete, clearly not working or the dial glass broken or missing" was introduced as a reason for MOT failure in April 2012?

I detest nit picking MoTs and I am thinking they were hoping it would be an earner for them, never mind the £6 bulb. :angry: :angry:
