Your right of course Hellijohn even more so for me,,,, In Bulgaria or at least the small village where I live all the garages are like something out of the wild west, everything is broken and no-one speaks English.. luckily I have access to the big-jimny online postal service which sent me the king-pin bearings in 10 days, which I thought was good...

My theory as to why the boot floor is so bad at rusting is that the back box is under it , gently warming up the metal of the boot floor. Then as it cools it attracts moisture and condensation so that it gets damp both inside and out. The result of that being rust.

A lack of seam sealer means that moisture sits in the seams too.

That is a good theory. I like it. I had a shield over my back box which was so rusted I was pretty much able to pull it off by hand and I had to remove it to treat the rust on the floor over it. I can't say it made any difference to the floor overall but immediately above the shield was not too bad.

Not see any at all, Hellijohn,, one or two pinins yes, a Jimny or two also,, mainly toyota's (Rav's)and (Cruisers) landrovers and a few Vits too. I've had a look in the boot of my 2009 to get the jack out, don't remember seeing any rust, but I will look today in detail, get back to you later on it... The back exhaust box is well rusted at the seams both ends but is still sound tight for the mo.... I think a regular check up is needed all round looking for rust and jumping on it at first signs, and there lies the prob, it's the rust which is difficult it see or to get at that will rot through...

Sounds plausible Kirkynut ;)

Maybe it's worse on those with boarded out rears,

might put the carpet back on under the board
