Any chance you could put together a few pictures or even a short video looking through your ARB locker? It would be cool to see it...

Thanks to Dave (S200 KYS) a temporary replacement diff is on its way from Wales. This will let me keep BigJImny on the road whilst learning how to dismantle and repair the one with the ARB in.

So started the strip down tonight. Didn't get to the point where I could drop the diff as the shafts need hammering out and my shift working daughter is asleep.
However in this video you can hear the knocking noise and can see the prop is not moving, so the noise is within the diff.
I had expected to have large flakes of metal on the drain plug but instead there was a large amount of very fine metal filings like a metal paste.
Oh, and at the end of the video you can see some oily film around the oil seal. The seal and bearing was replaced in the spring .

Ah, yes!
I remember seeing Dave was selling diffs and considered them for Lockers in the future but I've not had the cash recently.

Let’s hope it’s “just” spat some teeth off the crown wheel / pinion and the ARB is okay and can ‘just’ be fitted with ‘new’ gearing around it...

Hmmm, not that cool at all!
Here is the damage that I can see.
And here is the real worry, this is a close up of the case of the ARB locker
And here is why, in the bottom of the diff pan are 4.5 bolts! Four are undamaged and the 0.5 is chewed! There is also a large amount of debris
So it is either something in the Diff that has lost its bolts (unlikely as the diff "works") or the bolts were left in there at some point. The axle case was apart for a rebuild in 2013 and I also pulled some parts around at the end of 2018. So whatever way they have been in there a while and it explains the generally noisy diff!.
So the question is whether to rebuild it, or move the ARB to the new Diff from Dave. As the ARB seems to have been damaged it has to come apart. So the initial plan is to put Dave's Diff in so that we have a car for the winter and rebuild the ARB gradually over the Winter.
Thanks for the prompt delivery Dave, that's this weekends work sorted
