The rubbish might have been the stuff you poured in the rad!

Hi
Seems ok now, the heat started to come through the vents much quicker and hotter from start up. I drove 3 times around the block and the temp needle stayed just below 1/2 on the gauge. The 2 heater matrix hoses are both a the same (hot) temperature but the bottom radiator hose is still cold, is that right ?
Also noticed a slight drop in revs when coming to a stop or reversing, tachometer seems to settle at 750rpm, is that too low?

750 rpm is right for idle speed and revs will drop when stopping due to the servo taking more vacuum but the ecu should sort it out.

All coolant hoses should feel hot eventually but the one after the rad ought to be a bit cooler obviously. It will be quite hot still.

I have taken the car on a 20 mile drive and the temp needle stayed at 1/2 way. However whilst waiting at traffic lights on the way home the needle started to claim to 3/4. It seemed to stay there until I moved off so on the drive I let the needle claim again to 3/4, when I revved the engine, the needle dropped back to 1/2 ? The bottom hose from the thermostat is more aired than hot (although it's new), could it be the thermostat or the viscous fan ?

If there is a noticeable temperature drop onthe bottom hose its aa sure sign that the radiator core is blocked.

Hi
The radiator is new along with the rest of the cooling system, just wondered if the fan wasn't spinning fast enough st idle?
