well, all this time, and having that uneven wear on the back of my mind, i was pretty convinced that it had something to do with something not making contact properly.
at the time i just took the uneven wear as something natural due to the components being old and worn. as for the mechanic not investigating further, i guess you're right. in his defence, he's not very familiar with this cars, though i trust him as he took good care of my 1.5ddis engine on the previous jimny. but hey, a clutch is a clutch, so that's no excuse.

do you have any idea where one would go about getting a clutch fork? the only one i could fing online was on suzistore, for 56 australian dolars...that's like 30£, 40€, something like that. it's cheap enough, for a moment there i was scared of having to part with more of my videogame money lol.
although..the one they have on suzistore is suzuki oem, not an aftermarket brand. the part ref. also looks like the numbers suzuki uses. gonna enquire the suzuki rep closest to me and a parts company and see what i can come up with, hope it's not an arm and a leg, but it's not exactly a high tech part, so i might be in luck.
the annoying part is having to take the gearbox out...do you reckon a nex clutch will be needed? or advisable? or should i just use the one that's there till it wears out?

thank you so much.
gonna have a chat with my mechanic, and maybe try and look for a garage that specializes in gearboxes...

Honestly I think that you should have taken the car back to the garage that carried out the work as soon as you noticed the fault and told them that it was not repaired satisfactorily and that they had best get on and sort it out properly. What you are likely to find now is that the garage will attempt to deny any liability as you have tried to rectify the problem yourself.

Until you have the box out I would hold back on buying anything. It just might be cracked and bent and might be able to be straightened and welded. As for the clutch being worn enough to change that again will be a difficult decision as they are not cheap. Again inspect and then decide. I would go back to the original garage and ask him nicely to try and rectify the defect. If he is a decent chap he will probably admit he did not really investigate the uneven wear and would,I think nah hope, that he would like the chance to at least see if indeed it was his mistake. Of course you would not expect for him to do it for nothing but a reduced labour rate would be a good gesture on his part.(I am not normally this diplomatic but a bit of pleading and begging can go a long way as opposed threats and shouting!)Best of luck.

well, his labor rates are pretty low as it is so that's not really a problem, as for the clutch arm, if it does cost 56 aussie dollars, that's not really a big issue anyway. just hope i dont need a new clutch, the clutch kit he installed cost me 200€ but i'm guessing the aisin or exedy kits are cheaper than that. in any case, i'll probably end up going to a different garage as he is usually very difficult to book and a bit far from me. there's a off road garage nearer to me, i'll talk to him and see how it goes anyway, but yeah, prolly time to give that other shop a chance. just bad timing this, gotta pay my insurance this month, and i have my brother's wedding next month plus a trip to ireland, and then the xmas shopping. gotta do some penny management lol

You will do well to find another garage that will willingly fix a third parties work without it 1 costing you a fortune and 2 them wanting to strip everything out and start again from scratch.

I also have to disagree with mickt don't go back to the first garage asking them gently to do more work at your expense, go back and insist that they fix it properly at their expense like they undertook to do when they first had the car in for repair, they are professionals and you have already paid for your clutch to be fixed once, you should not be paying a second time for them to do the job again correctly.

Oh and if the clutch is burning then it needs to be replaced as even if it is still fairly serviceable it's lifespan has been significantly reduced by not being installed right.
