You could take it back to the garage(if it was a garage that did the clutch/cable replacement) as per your rights under 12 month warranty!

it was. and yes, that's what it feels like. for the last few days i've been driving it like that and the pedal is always "dull" when i first use the clutch, i press it a few times and it comes back to normal, more or less. it's just strange that it happened after i changed the cable adjustment.it's been raining so i still haven't got round to messing with the adjustment again. i was just trying to avoid taking it to the shop as it's some 30kms from home and since it's my daily driver it's not very handy being deprived of it for a couple of days

If you are having to press a few times before it comes back to normal(is that the normal you had or more of a normal that it should be?) then I suggest that you still have not got the adjustment spot on. Was the release bearing replaced too? The only other thing is the condition of the clutch release arm as on some cars these can cause problems by cracking and hence deflecting affecting the travel. Keep us informed.

the normal i had.
i never had play in the pedal. as soon as i start to press it there is resistance.
the "normal would be, around half way thru the travel, there is a change in the resistance, like an elbow opening, as in everycar. abnormal is when it just feels dull, like there is a rubber ball under the pedal and no change in feedback from the pedal along the travel.

this thing about the pedal being stiff/dull, it only happens the first time i use the car, and it only happens after a while as passed since the last time i used it. i drove it yesterday after 2 days not using it, and it was like that. today as i got it i expected it to be the same, but no, it was normal.
the burning only becomes apparent after 4000rpm. today i gave it a trashing going downhill, was doing 120kph...around 80mph in fifth at around 4500, 5000rpm and even going downhill it smelled like burning.
and yeah, the bearing was changed as well. i had considered that about the clutch arm..but by looking at it it seems to be in the correct place, and trying to move it by hand there i couldn't feel any play or flex.
it must be the cable, gonna wait for the weather to improve to give it a fiddle.
on a related note, when the clutch was replaced, the mechanic showed me the old parts..the friction disc had uneven wear, on side of the circunference was more worn down the the other, like half and half ad if it had been touching the plate at a very narrow angle. the plate itself was also changed and had light heat scoring

i'm guessing it's either the cable, or something wrong it the release bearing that might be hung up

From your end comments I would bet it is the clutch arm not pressing the release bearing squarely onto the pressure plate. Only proper way to check is to remove the gearbox and physically inspect the arm and pivot points. Quite honestly the garage having found the abnormal wear pattern should have investigated further in my opinion.
