My cousin has said he will weld it for me - great! I'm looking to squirt seam sealer inbetween the layers of steel, but they're all miniscule pots. Could I not just empty a whole tube of flexible waterproof silicone between the layers? Like RTV?

I would probably get some seam sealer along those joints if it were mine. That way you will weather proof the joints and stop all the crap getting between the skins and rotting it from the inside out.

Hmm I have cleaned it all out and instead filled it with white marine grade grease as is in the photo. I suppose that's ok too but will eventually disappear. I'll do the seam sealer once that begins to happen!
