The white sealant works for me OK! Your springs have not become too weak overtime have they? Perhaps new springs might be the answer?

Found the issue.
I took the joint apart tonight to wipe sealant around it and noticed something. As much as I dream of a tidy garage with neat racks of tools I am untidy and the old sealing ring from the original exhaust was still on the garage floor.
As I took the new ring off to put sealant around it I noticed.......
yes, the new one is smaller!!
So I popped the old one in (with some sealant for luck) and hey presto! its solved.

Since I started buying bits for The Other Car from ECP, I always check everything is identical to what came off, as ECP have a (well deserved) reputation for supplying totally wrong parts. (But they have a good returns policy....)
Glad you got it sorted anyway, I'd have suggested white exhaust paste like everyone else

I hate Eurocarparts but do use them occasionally. More often than not they remind me why I hate them! It is because A) they supply the wrong parts and
when they supply the right parts it is rubbish when not a big brand like Bosch, Pagid etc.
