Just thought I'd update this post. The Jimny is now back on the road, MoT'd for another year and running well again. I took it to a reasonably local garage found under the
www.goodgaragescheme.com/
for most of the work
The clunk at the rear was resolved by changing the trailing arm bolts with genuine Suzuki ones.
Didn't do anything with the front arm bushes. The garage said they did not need doing at this time. I suspect they are on their way out and may do them for next year's MoT
Two of the three sections of exhaust were renewed with cheaply obtained parts.
The four wheel drive was repaired by replacing the split vacuum hoses and a little bit of the steel fixed hoses. Its' all working as intended.
Did not do anything with the oil leak as yet other than top it up for now. Will look at it again later and identify the probable leaking oil seal.,
The coolant leak was sorted with a new O ring on the back of the engine block
Bodywork was repaired with some welded patches around the front edge of both rear wheel arches and the inner cills.
I've also greased the front swivels.
I just wanted to say thanks for everyone's help. It's very much appreciated. It's also had a service and even been polished so is both looking and driving great. We just need some snow now to get the best out of it. In the summer
I hope to give the underside mechanical bits a rub down and paint.
Longer term I'd like to fit some more modern front seats as the current ones are really bad on my back - lower back slumps into them and shoulders are pressed forwards. I'm in agony after half an hour so use a sit on mat to fill the space in the backrest. A modern one I sat in the showroom a year or so ago have much better backrests on the seats.
Thanks again,
Paul

My partner wants to get her Jimny MoT'd early this year to ensure that it's fit and ready for the winter. I'd like to follow up on last year's work by getting the worn front axle / leading arm bushes replaced. It's a standard Jimny and I'm wondering on whether to go with standard Suzuki bushes (price as yet not queried with local dealer) or to go with a polyurethane material such as polybush -

Cost comes into it as well as life expectancy of the part but I also don't want to do something that might introduce the death wobble I've read about on other posts if I can help it. Your views would be much appreciated.
The anti roll bar drop links are also a bit rusty and I'm thinking of replacing them as well as a precautionary measure. Is there a preferred supplier / type for a standard car.

On a stock car I would stick with the standard Suzuki bushes unless they are stupidly expensive.

Rang the local main dealer today and they told me that they don't sell the bushes separately and I would have to buy the whole leading arms at £130 each.

That's ridiculous. I can't believe that suzuki don't do the bushes individually, I would try a different dealers, yours sound like they are after making profit at the cost of service.
