How many of you have actually done this?
What gearbox are you using, I'm thinking the standard Jimny gearbox will be to low geared for diesel use.
How much power is it possible to get from the 1.7 TD? I know standard is around 82 bhp/ 168 Nm @ 2400 rpm. But the G16B engine is 95 bhp / 138 Nm @ 4000 rpm, and way cheaper.
So the 1.7TD would only be interesting if you could get more than 100 bhp / 200 Nm from it.
What I like about the G13BB/G16B is that you have lots of rpm available, with faster wheel rotation. Not sure I'll get that with a slow running diesel on standard gearbox.

Not done this conversion myself although im running an m16a in my jimny with a sj410 transfer box.when i did the engine swap was a good noticable difference.
i used to have have an astra g van that i fitted a 1.7td to after the dti gave up.i tweaked the max fueling fitted a bleed valve, did the white ring mod to the pump i also had it decatted and a bigger fmc fitted never had it on the rollers but it flew and had loads of torque and was reliable aswell whilst running on cooking oil mix.

Thanks
What's the difference between 1.7TD and DTI engine? Thought the 1.7TD was a DTI?
What's and FMC?
