A couple of concerns I have are
1.My jim has air conditioning, if I remove the fan will the winch fit ok?
2.Would it be ok to run the winch off of standard battery to start with and upgrade to an optima yellow top in the future, I only intend to use the winch for self recovery when greenlaning etc.
3.Do I need some sort of battery/winch cut off switch
Any sugestions welcome

2: I currently run the same winch off my standard battery, it's been okay but I wouldn't want to long spells with the winch only quick recoveries
3: it's advisable to, be it a manual isolated switch or an electric operated one, or better fit both

You could have easily moved the solenoid up under the bonnet, so you wouldn't have to cut the crossmember.
Also, there's no reason for 2 battery cut off switches. One is sufficient.

So long as its at the Battery end...

you only need two isolators if you have a cable going from battery 1 to Battery 2 in a two battery split charge system
