I can tend to be the opposite. I know that alloy lug nuts can loosen off but I hate it when I have to use all my strength roadside to remove them. So I am guilty of not tightening certain things enough sometimes. There are some thing where there is good reason not to overdo things. I guess this is why torquing them up is the best.

Something that has helped me in the past apart from the usual.....heat.......is an impact air wrench!!

I've bought some torque sticks for wheel nuts. Easier to carry than a torque wrench. They're made of a metal that twists at a set torque. Brilliant things for people like me!

I bought an electric impact wrench from machine mart, a Clarke one, but the ni cad batteries have had it, so it's not powerful any more.
It was a good piece of kit when new but I'd spend money on a compressor now I think, even for at home. The neighbours will love the noise! It wears you out over tightening nuts and bolts by hand you know!

The air wrench/spanner is slower than the impact but great for jobs like seat bolts when there is a lot to turn and in a tight space. You would never regret getting a compressor and the air impact wrench is way ahead of a 12v or rechargeable one. My latest compressor is an Aldi one, slightly smaller than before - 25L tank - but it is way faster motor with more CFM so fills the receiver quick smart. I recommend it highly and for 99 notes can't be too bad.
It's not just for nuts and bolts, tyre inflation, especially with big buggers like Pajero, is rapid. Injecting Waxoyl, cutting panels and rusty steel off and such. And my first compressor was for spraying which I used to do - I used to think it was the ONLY use for a compressor back then! lol

A proper mechanic would never do such a thing but a kwik fit fitter monkey may do lol

if you buy a quality tool for the job and torque it up correctly with a new seal you should never have a problem
but half the trouble is people using a 3/8th drive rachet in them which round the hole a little which wont allow the correct tool to fit snug to undo it
