Hi again.

My belt has been fine since I last posted till now. Lastnight it snapped yet again.
ive checked for burrs on the pulleys and cant see any and everything turns freely and aligned.
The belt squeeled every so often when in lower gears and whilst it was squeeling the lights would dim and the heater would blow less.
This makes me think it's the alternator thats the problem. question is where would I get new bearings for the alternator or would it be best just to renew the hole thing.
If the lights never dimed while it was slippin I would have said the alternator was fine. I dont want to buy a new one and still end up with the same problem.
It would slip every so often when hot, cold, going slow or fast so I dont think its the water pump. any other thoughts on how i can properly pin point the fault

I have the same issue with mine, has to be the alternator as turning off the lights or stereo seems to help. Though, I had my alternator sent off for a refurb and they returned saying there was nothing wrong with it, also fitted new battery. But the Jimny still eats through one every 3 months. Theres also a coating of powdered fan belt that builds up across the front of the alternator, if it was the water pump, that build up would be across the other side of the engine due to the belt rotating clockwise.

Definatly the right belt:) Even eats through genuine parts too! Im wondering if its the alternator brackets flexing? To be honest im running out of ideas.
