There is virtually no availability of 10W/30 in the UK. It is still available in the states.

I agree it is hard to get but I just bought Morris oils 10/30, cost me £19.

OPIE OILS do some 10W/30 and some specialist blenders like the above poster suggested.

In reality it has no place in modern engines.

Most cars in the UK that are speced for 5W/30 are speced for 5W/20 and 0W/20 in the states to reduce fuel consumption.

The spec for xW/16 is being voted on at the API and will probably be available next spring!

Availability of 5W/20 and 0W/20 in the UK will be widespread within a year as all the new Fords are using that oil.

From many cars in the US with 100,000 miles the wear metals at that mileage is showing no statistical difference between a 20 and 30 grade oil.

Can you define "modern".

I personally don't envisage ever owning a vehicle under 10 years old. :(
