Will they be okay locked in for a few miles on the road between lanes etc? I'm worried about scrubbing my tyres etc?
I am sure I read on here that if you engage 4WD then disconnect the vac pipes that the hubs will stay engaged. I want to permanently engage the front hubs so that the diff doesn't lie idle for months so I am guessing a short distance will be fine but maybe I'll get shot down. I just can't figure out what tubes to mess with.
I ran my SJ which had manually operated hubs with them engaged all the time cos when I tried jumping out to turn them from freewheeling to fixed I could never shift the things.

If you have stiff hubs that are hard to turn its because they're full of mud water & old grease, strip them down, totally degrease then reassemble & regrease (I use high temperature white spray grease).

Yes I saw those but I assumed they were just for freewheeling.

Is there a preferred gasket sealant for this?

One of the hubs I got off eBay won't freewheel!!
