Mine has now done 47k and they are shot

Never been proper offroading, although i have been laning in it half a dozen times and for a novice they were heavily rutted... but mainly dry.

I live out in the sticks, so the car sees verges and rough tarmac daily.

I've got some decent super thick waterproof grease to use for the bearings, and then smear onto the ball every month or so, to reduce the amount of pitting > hopefully reducing the tearing effect on the seal > reducing water/mud ingress into the bearing housing.

I've heard the large swivel seal should be replaced when servicing. i'm 99% sure the ones fitted is the factory seal, so it has lasted 8-9years.

I'm thinking my wheel bearings will also be close, due to the age and mileage, but that job looks more straight forward and not so messy.

Our Jimny is now 12 years old.. its done 67,000 miles, of which, the last 7,000 have been done by me ... and its been though some quite extreme terrain / weather conditions.
Since we started to mod the Jimny, we have replaced each wheel bearing once and that is basically it ... This winter though, she will need new Kingpin Bearings, seals and swivel joint seals. I guess weve been lucky because prior to our ownership, it looks like the jimny never left the city.

Did mine on Saturday.

The passenger side was far worse than the drivers... infact the drivers had been done not such a long time ago as the pins i took out look new!

The passenger side was fairly bad, with gravel in the grease

Replaced everything... and have 4 kingpins that will be fine to use again!
The new measured exactly 15mm, and the old ones very very slightly under (0.01mm) Will sell if anyone wants some

Plenty of grease in and around the bearings and topped the CV's up too
