Swift 1.6vvt engine into a 2007 vvt jimny project

The braking issue is something ive had issue with for a while. Its mainly manifest when towing, and has got worse since going to 235 tyres, to the point where i wonder if it will stop sometimes. I have also managed to warp discs in the past with it so i think some extra braking will help (and please the insurance company!).
Taller tyres reduce braking power as they act like a longer lever working against the same small brakes. Are you towing a braked trailer? If so check the overrun brakes are working freely, as you should notice very little affect on your braking with a correctly working system. If it's unbraked, consider a braked trailer!

The sport engine should be better than the Liana engine I have in mine....here's how that engine cruises up the highest motorway in England.

Busta you are right; larger tyres make it worse braking. The trailer i use with the jimny is one of them tiny little camping trailers with no brakes, which has the advantage of being very light and easy to store when not in use (sits on its back end up in the air, actually fits through a standard door like that). when its full its usually logs or building materials (which probably takes me over the jimnys 350kg weight limit). Building a new trailer with jimny sized wheels and some brakes is another 'project' i have lined up, but a shortage of hours in the day is stopping that one currently

I have a larger 8x4 twin axle plant trailer at work that i can borrow to tow with the jimny, but as it weighs nearly 1200kg with nothing in it, its a bit useless (work use it for a 2ton scissor lift usually). Its also bulky, wider than the jim and has no cover. was a bit of a brown trouser outing the one and only time i tried it on the jim!

Have a look at these callipers....early Vitara ones......vented discs are from a Diesel Jimny.....haven't warped yet!
I did the brakes prior to gaining more power........I have discs on the rear too.
Everything fitted straight on and improved the situation.
Old calliper is on the floor in that picture.
