Who changes their own Wheel Bearings (Rear with an ABS Ring) and Fronts into the Hubs ... AND what do you use??

I'm thinking of investing in a Press - who uses what?

Thanks Brett

Martin's guide to front wheel bearings - www.bigjimny.com/mediawiki/index.php/Fro..._Bearing_Replacement

Not sure my missus would like me cooking a hub in her oven though? ;)

Googling the rear bearing and found this thread - www.4x4community.co.za/forum/showthread....-rear-wheel-bearings

Where they mention a similar approach to what my local garage did... (I was chatting to Brett about this this morning when he came over, they stole a length of seamless tube off me and slip that over the shaft to tap the bearing and ABS ring into place)

I don't understand (maybe cos I'm not an mechanical engineer) how the Bottle Jack got the ABS Ring off after they welded a bar onto the bearing?

I had heard that Russell was thinking of making a replace-able ABS ring - one of his "to do" Project.

Like this mate -

Where the BLUE bars are welded to the bearing outer race, and then a bar across the top, then the RED bottle jack is on top of the shaft and jacking up the blue bars to lift the bearing and ABS ring up the shaft...

doable with the short shaft, not so sure about the long shaft though!
